The School of Education record group is divided into several series:  DEAN’S CORRESPONDENCE, DEAN’S TOPICAL FILES, COMMUNITY OUTREACH, PUBLICATIONS, OTHER CAMPUSES, FACULTY DEVELOPMENT.

The DEAN’S CORRESPONDENCE (BOXES 1-16) includes internal and external communications, letters, memoranda, etc.; material is restricted for twenty years from date of creation, except with permission of the dean.

The DEAN’S TOPICAL FILES series (BOXES 17-37) includes: MINUTES and agendas, as well as other material, from faculty meetings, and from executive committee meetings from 1964-2003 (BOXES 17-27); boxes 28-33 contain REPORTS such as planning documents for both campus and division, department, or school plans, annual reports from school and campus (Box 28 includes a history of Div. of Education (1979); program reviews, especially Master of Public Administration (box 32 restricted). Boxes 34-37 contain 2 copies of the 33-part accreditation report from the Michigan Dept. of Education from 1995.   

The PUBLICATIONS series (BOX 38) contains brochures describing the School of Education from 1960 through 1981 and a newsletter entitled The Communicator dated 1979, as well as two issues of the UM-D alumni publication Legacy for 2000.

The COMMUNITY OUTREACH series (BOX 39) contains material on Dean’s work with the Detroit Compact from 1991-1996, and partnership plans with the Woodward School and the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.

The OTHER CAMPUSES series (BOXES 40-41) contains material on the University of Michigan-Flint Dept. of Education (BOX 40), and material on the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, School of Education (BOX 41).

The FACULTY DEVELOPMENT series (BOXES 42-45) contains material on the Faculty Development Series “College Teaching,” developed by the Michigan Colleges Consortium for Faculty Development, of which UM-D was a part, 1986-1990.

Addendum 2005, TOPICAL FILES from Dean Poster, includes material on Michigan state certification, Michigan Council of Deans, and other State and National  material (Boxes 46-50)
