Scope and Contents: C. Edward Wall’s Collection is divided into three sections: CORRESPONDENCE/MISCELLANEOUS, GALLERIES, and ARTISTS.
The CORRESPONDENCE/MISCELLANEOUS series (Box 1) is the smallest of the three and contains letters, invitations, articles about glasswork and material Wall used for his own writing. There are miscellaneous items that range from price lists to political correspondence. This box also contains information about educational glasswork programs as well as a file on the Pierian Press, the company Wall founded in 1968.
The second series, GALLERIES (Boxes 2-13), is a collection of various announcements Wall received from art galleries from across the country. Most announcements are in full color, displaying snapshots of featured artists’ works and the time-span the gallery would present the exhibit.
There are two boxes (Boxes 7-8) from the local gallery Habatat and these files are divided into posters, invitations to international shows and auctions, and announcements signed by artists. The rest of the show announcements from Habatat are separated by date.
The final series, entitled ARTISTS (Boxes 14-18), contains material on exhibits of works of 74 different artists. The files for Harvey Littleton, Dale Chihuly and Michael Glancy are the most extensive.
