Scope and Contents: The collection contains Topical Files in two series. Topical Series I contains the NCA Self-Study, and report of visit; Topical Series II contains several texts written by Smock.
Topical Files Series I (Box 1): NCA Self-Study, undertaken during 1972-1974. The final report includes interviews with Chancellor Goodall and Dean Arden, in which they talk about the university, faculty governance, tenured faculty, and other issues.
Topical File Series II (Box 2): Texts written by Smock, himself, including a work on human ecology, and on the urban environment, as well as the sociology self-study, 1980.
