The collection was donated to the archives during the fall of 2007 by Dr. Heady’s colleagues. The collection is divided into five series, several comprising primarily readings and reference material. There are emails and other correspondence interspersed throughout the collection. Series I contains material on teaching re women and science; series II focuses on Biological Determinism; Series III focuses on gender issues, especially as it relates to faculty; Series IV comprises material on returning students and minorities in the sciences, the University of Michigan and its interest in women and science; Series V covers Women and Science through readings on the history of women and science, and special issues on this topic.
Series I (boxes 1): Teaching material related to Women and Science
Series II (box 2): Biological Determinism
Series III (boxes 3-4): Readings on Gender issues, and gender bias as it relates to faculty
Series IV (boxes 5-6): Readings and other material on feminist science, minorities and returning students in science, as well as the University of Michigan’s stance vis a vis women in science
Series V (boxes 7-9): Women and Science, including Career paths, climate issues, history, special issues on the topic, and letters to the editor of various publications.
