Scope and Contents: The Fair Lane Music Guild record group is divided into two series: TOPICAL FILES and PUBLICATIONS.
The TOPICAL FILES includes a single Board of Directors folder containing membership lists of board members, and rosters of Fair Lane Music Guild general members. The concert files contain clippings, correspondence, programs, publicity, occasional photographs, reviews, contracts, and ticket sales. Documentation for each concert, however, is not consistent. Most of the concerts are from the 1978 and 1979 seasons and the 1985-86 season. There are several folders describing the various "Job Descriptions" for the voluntary positions in the organization. There are some scattered minutes for 1983 found under the secretary position. There are also five folders of minutes, 1971-1985, found under the heading "Minutes." The "Publicity" file includes three folders of clippings from 1971 through 1980, general publicity files dating from 1977 through 1985, posters, and reports. Special fund raising events such as the Flower and Hawk, a one time musical performance and annual events such as the Holiday Dinner, Music Matinee Walk, and Opera Magic are documented under "Special Events, Fundraising." These events were documented during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The PUBLICATIONS series includes a history of the Fair Lane Music Guild written in 1970. The record group includes issues 1 through 8 of the newsletter Focus on Fair Lane, dating from 1978 through 1980. The sixteen folders of programs are arranged chronologically by season, dating from 1970 to 1986.
