The Student Government Council record group is divided into two series TOPICAL FILES and PUBLICATIONS.

The TOPICAL FILES series includes several sub-series: HISTORICAL RECORDS, the oldest records held, which are from 1962 and 1963, are in BOX 1. SG MINUTES from 1980-2004 are in BOXES 2-6. SG COMMITTEE MINUTES are in BOXES 7-9. SG FINANCIAL Material is in BOX 10-14. Information on STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS for 1997 is in BOX 15.  MEMORY BOOKS for 1996-97, 1998-99, 1999-2000 are in BOX 20-21. Clippings for the Memory Book of 2002 are in BOX 7.  Material on STATE AND NATIONAL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS, on Michigan higher education and Michigan Politics is in BOXES 22-23. Current and “archival” MINUTES from the various CAMPUS COMMITTEES, which have SG representatives, are in BOXES 24-28. MINUTES from UM-D CAMPUS-WIDE COMMITTEES, which had SG representatives, such as Futures (1999), Chancellor Search (1992), Faculty Senate and Policy Council, are in BOXES 32-38.

The PUBLICATIONS sub-series PROFESSORIAL GUIDE includes a copy of the 1984/85faculty evaluation entitled Suggestion, material for the PROFESSORIAL GUIDE and copies of several guides from 1996-2002 (BOXES 16-17).  The NEWSLETTERS sub-series (BOX 18) INCLUDES a 1979 issue of the SGC Journal, and issues of the newsletter Bottom Line (1999-2003). BOX 19 holds STUDENT DIRECTORIES from 1984-85, 1995-96-2003, as well as MISCELLANEOUS PUBLICATIONS, such as the Student manual from 1981 and the Quick Reference Guide for Senators (winter 2003). UM-D PUBLICATIONS sub-series (BOX 39) includes Fact Books, the Alumni Directory (1996). STUDENT ACTIVITIES OFFICE PUBLICATIONS includes Student Handbooks, Student Code of Conduct, and Student Leadership Awards 2003video.
