The material is arranged into five series.

Series 1 includes MINUTES and AGENDAS of the Staff Senate and Staff Council. The minutes are typically numbered, usually through the calender year, but there are some numbering errors. Minutes may be approved, unapproved or both. Some minutes are in email format. Tehre may be more than one copy of minutes and agendas. There are a few missing pieces.

Series 2 covers, in alphabetical order, committee material and material from various campus initiatives with which the Staff Senate is involved. PUBLICATIONS, such as 'The Senator', are housed in COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE files.

Series 3 is comprised of SURVEY material including 'Perceptions of the Work Place' (1995) and 'Perceptions of the Work Environment' (2000).

Series 4 is comprised of files gathered by Leah Long, who has been active in the Staff Senate since its inception. The material in this series is arranged, as much as possible, in the order in which it was received. There is BUDGET COMMITTEE material in both series 2 and 4. There is survey material in series 3 and 4.

Series 5 includes miscellaneous material and objects.

NOTE: Regrettably, the bulk of the Staff Senate's active and inactive files were discarded by a third party during 2001, when a staff member who was in charge of them left the university without making arrangement for their care. During 2002 an Archives Committee was formed which has been very successful in obtaining records from individuals to fill in the gaps, especially during the fall of 2003. Staff Senate expects to develop a policy for moving files to the archives in a timely fashion, and for providing copies of documents to the archives. (12/03)
