Quigley Collection of Children's LiteratureAbout the Quigley Collection The May G. Quigley Collection of Children's Literature was named for the first chief of the Children's Department in the Grand Rapids Public Library. May Quigley, who served in that position from 1904 until her retirement in 1943, gathered the books that form the core of the collection. In 2002, the Grand Rapids Public Library board decided the collection could be better utilized by a university with an extensive reading program for elementary teachers and the collection was moved to the Mardigian Library. It contains about 4000 books and 280 bound periodicals. Finding Quigley books:
