The Mardigian Library is a dynamic, student-centered organization that
strives to be an indispensable resource for the campus community. We
work continuously to improve our ability to anticipate and meet the information
needs of University of Michigan-Dearborn students and faculty members.
Our services, facilities, and programs focus on supporting student learning.
Over the next several years we will allocate resources to support several
key Maintenance Goals and to achieve a challenging array of important
Developmental Goals.
Maintenance Goals:
- Build, maintain and regularly evaluate our collections.
- Provide research education opportunities to all students.
- Provide access to authoritative information
resources through a variety of methods.
- Communicate to the campus community the services, resources
and programs that we offer.
- Continuously assess the effectiveness of our programs
and services.
- Foster awareness of copyright and licensing rights and
responsibilities within the campus community.
- Support instructors and students in upholding campus
academic integrity standards.
- Maintain and enhance collaborative relationships within
the library, the campus, the University of Michigan community
and with external organizations.
- Create opportunities for student engagement with the library.
Developmental Goals:
- Students will use our web site as their primary gateway to academic
information resources.
- Students will value the library as a congenial and comfortable place to gather.
- The library will communicate effectively with the campus community and external
stakeholders.
- The library will have an effective external funding program.
- The library will increase faculty awareness of scholarly communication issues.
- The library will examine and assess the efficacy of its current collection development
paradigm and explore alternative models.
