What’s new?
• Preliminary results from the library’s survey of faculty members are now
available online.
• Set up
alerts from databases to keep up to date with a particular area of study or to view tables of contents of your favorite journals.
• When you access your Library Account or log in to access databases from off-campus, you will soon be prompted to choose and enter a
personal identification number (PIN) so that your library information has increased security.
• Campus Media Services is executing a
pilot project in teleconferencing using a product called e/pop. If you wish to arrange a demonstration, contact Greg Taylor at 393-5150.
• As of January 1, 2009, handwritten Course Reserves forms will not be accepted. Please use the
online form to create your course list, or use the MS Word version of the form (found at the same URL) to type your list and email to the Reserves Department.
Upcoming Events
• On Sept. 12, 2008, noted Nancy Drew® expert, Jenn Fisher, will speak at the
opening reception for the exhibition, “Timeless Treasures: Children's Series from the Juvenile Historic and Quigley Collection.”
• On Sept. 19, 2008, UM Health Sciences Libraries will present
“Authoritative Medical Resources on the Internet” from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the BorgWarner Auditorium in the IAVS.
• The Office of the Provost is presenting
five workshops in a Faculty Enrichment Series designed to enhance instructors’ abilities in teaching, student assessment, research, collaboration, and grant writing. The first workshop,
Teaching Strategies, will be held on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in room 1212 ML.
• Join the
R.E.A.D. book club on September 30, 2008, to discuss Abraham: A Journey to the Heart of Three Faiths by Bruce Feiler.
• On Oct. 21st and 28th, the UM Credit Union will present several workshops at the library on personal and holiday budgeting.

• The Mardigian Library Research Education program provides
course-related instruction that can help your students learn how to do academic research.
• Students are also invited to attend an
open research workshop to learn more about library resources.
