MCards and Kerberos Passwords

An MCard (UM-Dearborn photo ID) is required for checking out any library materials, renewing materials, and paying fines and fees. To access online resources, you will need to log in with your uniqname and kerberos password (the same password used for your email). You can get your MCard at the University Center Information Desk.

Alumni and Guest Patrons

Library Password (PIN)

The Library Password (PIN) is needed when you wish to place a hold by using the "Request" button or access My Library Account.

Create a library PIN
  1. From the Mardigian Library web site, select the My Library Account link.
  2. Select "Guest Borrower or UM-Dearborn Alumni."
    • If you are an Alumni - enter your last name and your 8-digit UMID (found on your MCard).
    • If you are a Guest Borrower - enter your last name and 14-digit barcode (found on your guest card).
    • Leave the PIN field blank.
  3. Click the "Log In" button. This will not actually log you in yet; you will still need to create your PIN.
  4. The page will refresh, and you will need to re-enter your last name and UMID or barcode. This time, however, the form will include two PIN boxes so you can create and verify your new PIN. Your PIN must be at least four characters long and can include letters and numbers.
  5. When you click the "Log In" button the second time, you should be taken to your library account.
Changing your PIN
  1. Log in to your library account with your current PIN.
  2. The box in your patron record has a link to "Modify your PIN." Select the link and follow the instructions in the pop-up window.
Lost your PIN or need further assistance?
  1. From the Mardigian Library web site, select the My Library Account link.
  2. Select "Guest Borrower or UM-Dearborn Alumni."

Note: Library staff members do not have access to your PIN, but can remove your old PIN, allowing you to create a new one of your choice.
