The black borders of this cylindrical vase frame a wide register that wraps around the vessel. The colors and forms in this band suggest a landscape of rolling hills and a vivid blue sky with shimmering light.

Otto Schindhelm was born in Lauscha, Thuringia, Germany. He apprenticed as a glassblower from 1935 to 1937, and in 1952 he passed the master craftsman examination. He transitioned to creative flameworking and has taken part in numerous exhibitions since 1972.
