Little Golden Books Family Afternoon

Saturday, November 18, 2017
1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Berkowitz Gallery, 3rd floor Mardigian Library

Children in grades K-2 and their families are invited to an afternoon of reading, arts & crafts, and light refreshments as we celebrate 75 years of Little Golden Books in the Berkowitz Gallery. While you're here, peruse the exhibition of original artwork on display as part of the Golden Legacy exhibition, and enter to win door prizes featuring Little Golden Books merchandise. The event is free and open to the public; no registration is required.

Drop in between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for special guest readings of Little Golden Books, featuring visits from Odie the Reading Therapy Dog, and PAWS, the official mascot of the Detroit Tigers. Special guest readings will take place at 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. In between, we'll provide some of our favorite Little Golden Books from the library's collection to read to each other.

Throughout the event, kids can make fun arts & crafts projects, including printing a commemorative bookmark, assembling a paper bag puppet of The Poky Little Puppy, and using a special machine to make pinback buttons in several designs. There is also a fun Little Golden Books activity booklet filled with things to color, and puzzles to work on while you're here, or take home to do later.
