William A. (Bill) Gosling is University Librarian Emeritus of the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, as well as Curator Emeritus of their Children’s Literature Collection, Special Collections Library. In the early 1990s he developed a passion for children’s pop-up books, amassing a collection of over 2300 titles before presenting it to the Special Collections Library in Ann Arbor. Before retiring in 2008, Bill spent three years helping to organize and shape the early development of the Children’s Literature Research Collection, gaining an extensive knowledge of this very popular literature.

Bill now works closely with the library staff of the Mardigian Library in shaping and building our Juvenile Historic Collection to meet the needs of the Dearborn campus students and faculty. In addition to donating multiple gifts to further enrich the Mardigian Library’s collection, he generously volunteers his time to locate and acquire materials, share his extensive expertise, and provide support of conservation efforts.

The Juvenile Historic Collection is significantly enriched through Bill’s gifts of books, time, and support.
