Artists in this section refer to places around them, but they chose an abstract approach. British printmaker, Norman Ackroyd depicted the scenery of Rackwick Valley in Scotland in simple forms in shades of gray, white, and black. Detroit artist, Gordon Newton created collages of drydocks from an aerial perspective, and the same view was chosen by Wayne State University professor, Louise Nobili, in her dimensional watercolor titled Passages. Their works are not descriptive, but the artists' perceptions of reality are conveyed to the viewer.
