Fines & Fees

Policies

  • Fines and fees are non-refundable. If you have any questions, please contact the Library Info Desk prior to payment.
  • A Banner hold will be placed if you owe more than $5.00
  • You may pay fines and fees in person by cash, check, or credit card, by mailed check, or online by credit card
    • The library accepts Discover, MasterCard, and Visa only
    • The library does not accept credit card payments over the phone
  • All bills or final notices for lost or overdue materials will be printed and mailed via the U.S. Postal Service or campus mail
  • Patron information is confidential in compliance with the library's User Privacy Policy
  • Paying In-Person

    Payments can be made at the Library Info Desk

  • Paying Online
    • Payments can be made by logging into your library account and following these steps:
      • Click on "Unpaid fines and bills" to see the amount owed
      • In the "Online Fine Payment" box, type your 8-digit UMID and the amount you are paying at this time
      • Click "Pay Online"
      • Enter your credit card information
      • View/print your payment confirmation and receipt
    • About online payments:
      • Before paying online, please review the fines and fees policies listed above.
      • Once you receive confirmation of your online payment, your Banner hold will be lifted within one business day. If you need the hold lifted sooner, contact the Library Info Desk.
      • The Library will not release banner holds on days when the library is closed. (view current hours)
  • Pay by Mail
    • Check accepted; Checks should be made out to "The University of Michigan - Dearborn"
    • Please include the fine or fee notice with your check, or enclose a note including your 8-digit UMID and a description of the purpose for payment
    • Mail checks to:
